STFL Installation Campaign — India
Supporting the installation of 18 steel tube flying leads, with offshore-licensed field service technicians mobilised within 24 hours.
The requirement
An offshore development in India needed 18 steel tube flying leads (STFLs) installed to schedule — with vessel time booked, the installation window fixed, and no slack for delays. Flying-lead installation is exactly the phase where small problems become expensive ones: every hour of standby on an installation vessel is charged whether leads are being landed or not.
What MSCM provided
MSCM supported the campaign end to end:
- Factory acceptance testing of the flying leads before despatch, so every lead arrived offshore proven — pressure-tested, flushed and documented.
- Offshore-licensed field service technicians, embedded with the installation team to supervise deployment, mating and testing of each lead.
- Rapid mobilisation — technicians were on route within 24 hours of the client’s request, keeping the campaign inside its installation window.
The outcome
All 18 STFLs were installed to programme, with MSCM’s technicians providing continuity from the test bay in High Wycombe to the vessel deck — the same team that proved the hardware saw it into the water. The campaign is a working example of MSCM’s field-service model: trained, offshore-licensed technicians typically mobilised within 24 hours, anywhere in the world, backed by the factory that designed and built the equipment.
